After Burner II has been the inspiration for some great (guitar) covers; covers both done by the offical SEGA coverband "Blind Spot" as well as on Youtube. Just like with "Mega Man X" this is an instance where I like the covers more than the actual soundtrack that comes with the game.

The "After Burner II" song is the best known, and here are a couple of fun covers of it:

Its kind of weird how there's barely any covers of the other songs, but I did like this "Final Takeoff" cover by Julio César.

Gathering the resources for this review was kinda tricky; the game has multiple releases and ports, in the end I picked the arcade version for the video/images and I found some mp3s of the Saturn version.

At one point you could buy this soundtrack as an official double vinyl LP, but that's only available secondhand now sadly.
